Richard Diebenkorn

Artist

I think I first came across Richard’s work in an art book. I was instantly attracted to his use of color and shapes. On Cityscape I done in 1963, he creates a landscape viewed almost from an aerial point of view and the shapes are so bold the painting borders on the abstract. His work really produces an emotional response in me. Later work was also devoted to landscapes in subject matter but got more graphic, more broken down to the bare elements. His work continues to inspire me to this day.
