Actor, Model, Singer
Marilyn played the role of a dumb blonde perfectly but she was much more than that in real life. She complained to the studio about the typecasting and when they refused to offer her other types of roles she started her own company called Marilyn Monroe Productions in 1954. By the time I became aware of her movies she was dead of a barbiturate overdose in 1962. Yet my infatuation with her grew as I saw her films. My favorite was probably Some Like it Hot but I also loved Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, Bus Stop and The Seven Year Itch. Obviously I’m not alone in my admiration of Marilyn, her legacy and popularity continue to this day.
