Jacques Cousteau

Oceanographer

As a kid I loved shows about nature, Marlin Perkins’ Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom for one but I dropped everything to watch any special that featured Cousteau and his team of ocean explorers. I loved the undersea footage and learning about marine life. At one point I thought I’d like to be a marine biologist or an oceanographer. I scoured our set of encyclopedias and re-wrote information about all the fish I could find in a notebook. Jacques was also quite the inventor, designing the aqua-lung, a saucer shaped submersible and a number of other advancements dedicated to studying the oceans.
