I’m not a horror aficionado but I love King’s work. Some of the movies made based on his work have drawn me to the book versions. For example The Shawshank Redemption (the full title of which is Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption) and Stand by Me which was a novella titled The Body also The Green Mile. The last one delved into the supernatural whereas the other two were just great stories. I would read some of his other books before they were turned into movies waiting to see if they were able to pull it off. In the case of The Shining, Misery and Carrie, they definitely did.
